K.O.Kaine released their first CD ‘Accelerator’ to critical acclaim in April 2006 on the Copro records label with worldwide distribution through Plastic head. The Cd received favourable reviews, especially in mainland Europe and the Far East. It provided the band with a loyal following as well as the request to follow up the debut with a new bigger, better, louder record. Again, with guitarist Mik Crone producing, the band set about creating and developing their highbrid fusion of modern industrial tinged hardcore sleaze glam rock. In late 2007 the band hired an industrial unit and began recording what would later become the new album: ‘Play to ghosts’. The CD itself took 8 months to record with the mastering process being handled in Sacramento California by Monster Lab Audio (Deftones, Die so fluid). This allowed the band to maintain a large, more articulately layered recording with songs, such as ‘Women, Butterflys and Snakes’, incorporating church organs and reverse recorded guitar parts. Eventually 10 tracks were chosen for the album with the artwork again being handled by artist Sammie Jo Taylor. Further to the completion of the CD a Promotional video for the afore mentioned track, ‘Women, Butterflys and Snakes’ was shot by the Ash TV production company and will not only be used for promotional purposes but also commercial ones.
The band has always maintained full artistic freedom of creativity and, because of this, has never followed a set trend. As a result, they feel that artistically they have had absolute creative control in producing their alternative visions and delivering them via music.
‘Play to Ghosts’ is a strong, 10 track album that continues to build upon the foundations laid with the success of ‘Accelerator’ providing satisfaction for fans of every style of modern alternative rock/metal. |
