Well,

Thanks to Phil re-hosting the old forum, I have been able to update your post counts at least…

If I haven’t done your profile, or you have just signed up to the new forum, message me with your details & I will get your profile updated…

Cheers

But the loss of them makes it feel to me as if the most prominent posters of before have now pretty much lost all evidence of identity and reason to continue here, especially now there is no trace of the et9 forum! I mean, lord knows it was barely being posted in / on behalf of in recent months even while it still existed...

So, I doubt we will see many people return out of sentimentality's sake into what is an empty shell! If it could become a great forum again then I would happily stick around, but et9 and the specific et9 fans were the only things that kept me posting before now...

If you're really bothered I've moved the et9forum content to http://et9forum.flatnet.net/

Probably nobody will post there but hey, webspace is cheap.

Hmmm, perhaps I am not that concerned but rather enjoy a good grumble, people don't like change do they? That is rather magical of you though because I have realised there were far more private messages than I thought which I would like to look back on...

also, do we really need a swear filter ffs?

We don’t, but sadly the search engines do, unfortunately having lots of swearing, tags the site as having Adult content, which really affects the search engine placements, which in turn affects the amount of publicity the site can give the bands…

This is explained in detail in the post directly above yours.

i couldn't give a **** about my old post count, but i am slightly pissed off at all the old content, private messages etc being deleted with no warning - there's some stuff on there (especially my private messages) i would have liked to at least have the chance to save onto my computer. i understand that it was too hard to transfer stuff over, but not why the board software had to be changed in the first place or why there was no warning :(

Yes, I agree it’s a bugger, the original plan was to bring it all across, I liked the old forum software & I did think it was important to bring all the old members & posts across if possible…

It’s just a shame that it wouldn’t run on the new system (and believe me, we have tried!) it just got to the point that we had to cut our losses & move on… And with the rest of the site being fully automatic custom code now, the benefits of the rest of the site far out weighed the inconvenience of the post & member losses on the forum…

But I can see the frustration you must feel of having your post counts etc disappear with little or no notice… I have had it happen to me in the past, and do sincerely apologise for it not giving us all successful transfer, if of course it did go across like we originally planned there would have been no reason to notify the members in advance, hence we didn’t at the time & when we found out it wouldn’t happen, it was already too late…

Many thanks for signing up again!

I approve of this change, but am a bit shellshocked that all the old members, post counts and whatever are no more, without so much as a warning. Let's see who decides to carry on here...
